Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette – Swatches & Review
I purchased the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca palette and swatched this a long time ago, but hadn’t been able to get it up on my site. It was yet another product swatched but in my ‘to process’ folder.
The Website Claims:
This collection from Kat Von D kicks off with eight stunning eye shadows and an on-the-go mini eyeliner, each in a daring shade that embraces the heritage of 80’s neon colors. The True Romance shadows are formulated with rich, long-lasting pigments that effortlessly blend and layer to create a variety of stunning looks. The eyeliner has a creamy, waterproof formula that glides on smooth along the lash line for a bold result. The sleek metal case is embossed with a hand-drawn design in a profusion of sassy, neon colors.
The colors are swatched on Meow Light Primer.
Ingredients:
Not listed on Sephora’s website, which is a trifle annoying.
Price:
$36 for the palette.

Does it live up to its claims?
Hmm, yes. The eyeliner is nice (and eek, it’s not in the above swatches). The case claims to be neon but doesn’t exactly state the eye shadows are neon, it just sort of implies it. I thought the colors would be brighter based on the description that states ‘stunning eye shadows’ and ‘each in a daring shade that embraces the heritage of 80’s neon colors’ but they’re not. I guess ‘the heritage’ falls under ‘we thought about neons but didn’t want to commit, since we didn’t think anyone would buy colors that bright. That said, I really do like the colors. They’re pretty. I’ve actually used Swan Song several times.
The shades are very true to color. What you see in the pan is pretty much what you get. I like this. They’re also easy to apply and definitely fun to wear.
I think if you like bright colors on other people, but you’ve always been hesitant to wear them yourself, you can start with something like this palette and work your way towards brighter colors. The only shade in here that I would caution you about is Mad Max. You need to take care to apply that shadow or you will end up looking like Mimi from the Drew Carey show.
Would I purchase again?
If I ever use this one up? Yes. I have this palette and the Beethoven palette from Kat Von D. I think the quality is really nice in both palettes, so if I saw colors I wanted, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase them.
Product purchased by me. All opinions are my own.
I got this palette awhile ago and have been having a good time with it. I think it’s great for spring and summer. I agree, it isn’t 80’s-esque or neon AT ALL, which was initially disappointing but the colours are nice anyway.
heyyy! love your blog! i read it all the time!!! hope u check mine out!! <3
is the green dublin? or the purple because i think its the green
I love the packaging but I just don’t think I would ever use this palette enough to warrant purchasing. 🙁
This looks fab, really pigmented!
Do you have any suggestion for a dupe of Swan’s Song? The other shades are nice but I probably have dupes for all of them, so… ^^;
Swan Song is like Fyrinnae Crimson Ghost, if that helps?
Hmm there’re some really nice brights in this one! Looks pigmented too! I think Mad Max is probably a little tricky to work with (blue in general is tricky for me to work with), but I’d totally wear all the other shades!
I agree, but I really like Mad Max anyway. I bet it would look great if you used just a little, like on the lower lash line, with a purple smokey eye.
Oh yea, Lisa Eldridge has a cool video for a fantasy peacock look that would great with this pallet.
