Geek Chic Cosmetics The Game Is On Review

Geek Chic the Game is On Sherlock Collection Review

This fabulous new collection from Geek Chic Cosmetics is called the Game is On. It’s inspired by Sherlock. (which, I’m caught up on Elementary but I’m behind on the BBC Sherlock, I need to fix that). I can’t help but love Elementary more, since it has Lucy Liu and she’s awesome. All eyeshadows are cruelty free and vegan.

Row 1 = My Mind Palace – Battle Dress – I was a Soldier
Row 2 = Old Fashioned Villain – High Functioning Sociopath –  Bored

Geek Chic High Functioning Sociopath

High Functioning Sociopath
The Geek
Psychopath, you say? Oh no, there’s quite a difference, as Sherlock will gladly tell you! As would anyone else who was constantly being compared to the miscreants who fall under the category of psychopath!
The Chic
A rich, inky blue shadow with tons of sapphire and gold shimmer. This one is a stunner but best used with a base as it can stain. Perfect for a smoky eye with some pop!

Geek Chic High Functioning Sociopath Swatch
My Take
deep sapphire blue with bright blue and gold shimmer

Geek Chic Bored

Bored
The Geek
Adverse to its name, this shade is anything but boring. Though wearing it does absolutely give one the excuse to randomly shout the word “BORED” to anyone with the impudence to ask you how you are doing.
The Chic
An elegant mustard shadow with a satin metallic sheen. Pairs beautifully with autumn tones!

Geek Chic Bored Swatch
My Take
rich mustard yellow with golden sheen

Geek Chic I Was A Soldier

I Was A Soldier
The Geek
The Army lost its doctor (no not *the* Doctor) and Sherlock gained his best friend. Because what’s a detective without his faithful companion? Or “companion”, as Mrs. Hudson sees it.
The Chic
A yellow-toned army green based shadow with a strong grass green sheen and subtle golden shimmer. Pairs gorgeously with Bored! and other autumnal shades.

Geek Chic I Was A Soldier Swatch
My Take
mossy green with green and gold sparkles

Row 2 = Old Fashioned Villain – High Functioning Sociopath –  Bored

Geek Chic Battle Dress

Battle Dress
The Geek
Sometimes you need that perfect nude shade to accentuate your personal Battle Dress. And wearing this eyeshadow will surely give you a reason to cause your own scandal. Whether or not that scandal is in Belgravia is entirely up to you.
The Chic
A tea rose pink with a beige undertone shadow with subtle pink shimmer. Has a satin finish. Perfect for a soft neutral look!

Geek Chic Battle Dress Swatch
My Take
peach-toned beige satin with subtle pink sparkles

Geek Chic My Mind Palace

My Mind Palace
The Geek
A place made entirely from his imagination, Sherlock’s Mind Palace truly is the stuff of dreams. Surely at some time or another you have wished for access into this mythical domicile. Well, this eyeshadow will grant you admission, but be warned that Mr. Holmes is known to yell at anyone lowering the IQ in his presence.
The Chic
A sheer white with a strong turquoise to purple duochrome shift. Chock full of blue, violet, and green sparkles. Perfect for highlighting your browbone, inner v, or even the apples of your cheeks!

Geek Chic My Mind Palace Swatch
My Take
white with blue green iridescence and blue, violet and green sparkles. LOVE!!! This is super beautiful and it reminds me of Sugarpill Lumi on steroids.

Geek Chic Old Fashioned Villain

Old Fashioned Villain
The Geek
Just like Moriarty himself, this eyeshadow is Mr. Sex! Please note that this shade comes with neither an apple or a perfectly tailored Westwood suit. However, it does come with an extra large dose of sass.
The Chic
A devious purple satin shadow with a feisty copper sheen and copper sparkle. Perfect for a smoky eye with some sass!

Geek Chic Old Fashioned Villain Swatch
My Take
deep smoky purple with sparks of copper, blue, and violet.

Row 1 = My Mind Palace – Battle Dress – I was a Soldier
Row 2 = Old Fashioned Villain – High Functioning Sociopath –  Bored

My favorites are My Mind Palace and Old Fashioned Villain. High Functioning Sociopath is beautiful. Battle Dress is a nice eye brightener shade. I really like the yellow tones of I Was a Soldier. Bored is such an unusual yellow.

High Functioning Sociopath will leave a bit of a stain if you don’t use a base. However, with eyeshadow primer I had no issues. The colors have a lovely, silky texture.

What do you think of the new The Game Is On Collection from Geek Chic Cosmetics? Do you watch Sherlock or Elementary?

  1. The yellow is definitely “interesting” – need to see that one on my skin and try out some ideas. I really like the other colours and I’m so disappointed that I missed the collector tin – they’re apparently doing some more so I’m holding out till them to buy these.

I’m a fan of the Sherlock Holmes books. I started watching Elementary but it doesn’t really hold my attention, but I think Sherlock is fantastic – perfectly modern whilst still respecting the text (if you know the books well you can place most of the events in the show) Very well adapted and acted.

  2. The purple with holo sparkles looks divine! I also like the white one with the duo chrome look

    1. It would be more opaque if you used it with Darling Girl Glitter glue. It’s definitely a soft smoky purple. Also, it would be fab on top of a black base for a smoky eye

  3. These are super pretty & unusual! I’m usually afraid of loose pigment shadows but overtime I’m starting to become highly interested. I also like that most of the indie companies you show us allow you to buy sample sizes! Thanks again.

  4. Very nice and sparkly shadows! 🙂 I watch both, but Elementary doesn’t hold a candle to Sherlock!! 😉 I find that Elementary doesn’t hold my attention most weeks . . .

      1. I like Lucy Liu. I’ve seen Johnny Lee Miller in other things and he is a brilliant actor.

  5. These are so fun! I’d probably pair up Bored with Old Fashioned Villain as I’ve been favouring purple and gold lately. I watch both Elementary and Sherlock. I probably like Sherlock more, but Miller and Liu do make a great team and Elementary is still really high on my list.
