What you may not know is that Cover FX has many products to help banish blemishes and prevent them. I’m going to talk to you about each of them today.

Banish Blemishes with Cover FX

Cover FX Blemish Primer
Blemish Primer
First up is the new Blemish Primer. This primer is like a force field against blemishes. In addition to acting as a top notch primer, providing a smooth canvas to apply your foundation, it also treats current blemishes and prevents future breakouts. It has witch hazel to minimize the appearance of pores, aloe vera to moisturize and soothe the skin, and lots of nourishing ingredients and antioxidants. It also has lactic acid and .5% salicylic acid to help gently exfoliate and treat acne.

After you moisturize your skin and let the moisturizer sink in for 10 to 15 minutes, then apply your primer only to your affected areas. Use a tiny amount, because you don’t want your foundation to ball up. If it balls up on your face, you know that you’ve used too much.  This is actually true with any primer. The blemish primer is best to use only on your acne or where you’re prone to breaking out.

The coolest tip I’ve learned about primer recently is that you can take any primer and carefully tap it on your face, as opposed to rubbing it in, to help fill in your pores and provide better coverage. So if you have any uneven skin texture from blemishes or large pores, you can fill them in by gently tapping the primer into the skin.

Cover FX Blemish Primer Brush

Blemish Primer Brush
Sometimes it’s easier to make sure you apply a thin, even layer of primer by using a brush. Cover FX recommends their new blemish primer brush to help provide a smooth surface for flawless concealer application. You can also use a brush to help you tap the primer into your pores. When using the two together, start with a tiny dot at the tip of the brush and gently pat or tap it onto your blemishes or pores.

Like all Cover FX brushes, it’s vegan and made with synthetic hair. It’s been treated with an antimicrobial formula for a hygienic application and to keep bacteria from touching blemishes.

Cover FX Blemish ConcealerBlemish Treatment Concealer (launching soon)
This new concealer is formulated to reduce redness and inflammation. It helps to minimize the appearance of pore size and regulate oil product to prevent future breakouts. It has a lot of interesting ingredients including Bakuchiol to increase cell renewal, salicylic acid to treat blemishes, dermaxyl and oligopeptide to help repair skin and reduce scarring, phytosphingosine (a lipid) and bisabolol (an anti-inflammatory). In addition to all of that it’s got a 30% pigment load for full coverage!

With a concealer like this, you apply it on top of the blemish primer and gently feather the edges to blend. If you only have blemishes in a few places around your face, you can get away with just using concealer instead of a full face of makeup. Make sure you don’t forget to set the concealer with Matte Setting Powder.

I love that this is in a stick form, too.

BB Gel

BB Gel
If you have oily skin or acne prone skin, you need to give the BB Gel a try. It’s supposed to reduce inflammation and protect the skin with powerful antioxidants. It also provides a matte finish without drying you out.

If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend the Wayne Goss method of foundation application.

  1. Start by applying the blemish primer to your blemishes.
  2. Use another primer that you like elsewhere on your face. Yes, you can use different primers for different areas of your face – like the mattifying primer on your t-zone and the blemish primer where you need it.
  3. Then I would use the blemish concealer directly on top of your blemishes only.
  4. If you want to use concealer anywhere else, such as under your eyes, I would do that next.
  5. Then use the Matte Light Setting powder on top of your primers and concealer.
  6. Follow that up by applying the BB Gel where you need coverage. You don’t  have to apply foundation to your entire face unless you want to.
  7. If you’re exceptionally oily, use a tiny bit more of the Matte Light Setting powder.

This will extend your wear time for your makeup, as well as help you to use less product. Many people don’t realize that you don’t have to apply foundation all over your face. You can apply it just where you need coverage (but make sure you feather the edges).

  1. The only thing I don’t like about Cover FX is that all their products for oily and acne-prone skin have dimethicone in it. That stuff makes oily skin oilier and causes blemishes on its own! I’m not going to use their products until they fix this!

  2. Ohhh no wonder I was having trouble with the Blemish Treatment primer, I had been using a little too much and all over my face! I’ll try being more sparing with it

  3. I need to try this line. I keep seeing it, but haven’t done it yet.

  4. These sound like great products! I generally avoid all anti-blemish products, but I am overdue on trying Cover FX, period.

    1. You know I love the brand or I wouldn’t be a brand ambassador for them! My all time favorite product from them is still the CC Cream 🙂

    1. I love that they really focus on complexion perfection products, rather than get pulled in too many directions.
