Pravana Wild Orchid Hair

Before and After
My hair before and after I got it trimmed. I lost about 3/4 of an inch I think.

I wanted to share my new Pravana Wild Orchid Hair. Last week I got tired of having so much red left in my hair. It’s been in my hair for 6 months at this point and I wanted it gone. So I removed it with One n’ Only Color Fix. It took me two sessions with Color Fix to remove the red and leave me with blonde hair. After it was out, I put Pravana Wild Orchid onto my hair.

I was surprised to see my ends turn blue after Round 1 of One n’ Only Color Fix. You can see there’s still red through the midsection.

After the 2nd round, I felt the red was sufficiently gone and mostly I had blonde and golden brown hair through the middle with lavender ends.

By the way, when I use One n’ Only Color Fix, I only use Step 1 and Step 2. I skip Step 3. Step 3 will latch only any dye molecules left in the hair and cause them to expand, darkening it all over again. I had a stylist recommend I skip the Step 3 in the past, and it really does make a difference.

After washing and drying my hair my ends felt damaged. I also had a few places that hadn’t picked up color in that middle part of my hair. So I used Overtone Go Deep Extreme Pink mask on my dry hair and put a cap on to help keep in my body heat. I left the mask on for 3 hours. After I washed that out, my hair felt super silky and soft.

This past Tuesday I went to see Cliff to get my ends trimmed. It had been about 3 months since my last trim. Surprisingly, he said that I had minimal damage to my ends. He said it’s partially from using deep conditioning masks like Overtone and It’s a 10 Miracle Deep Conditioning Mask with keratin. It’s also from using my silk pillowcase or satin bonnet. Oh, and of course, laying off the heat has helped tremendously.

I try to let my hair air dry as often as possible. I also rarely heat style it right now. This seems to be the only way I can get it to grow longer.

Right now I love the Pravana Wild Orchid hair color, which is pink with a slight purple undertone. In some lights, it looks like a rose pink. Currently, the dark parts of my hair are my natural hair color.

What’s your current hair color?

  1. I believe the stylist was wrong when he said your hair had no damage. You are clearly missing large sections of you perimeter in both the b4 and after cut those ends up to you shortest point in the front a jaw length blunt bob please!!! Long time follower and hairstylist.

    1. Is that where he cuts the ‘long surfer layers’? I do have longer layers to give my hair more volume.

  2. I dyed all my hair back to black about a month or so ago. Where do you get your hair dye? I’ve thought about going to Sally Beauty and try one of their dyes because drugstore dyes seem to make my hair brittle.

  3. I’ve had a variation of blues/silvers/greys/violets on my hair for the last four years or so, when I thought the grey/silver pastel trend was sort of fading (wasn’t I wrong). I try to keep a level 9 Kenra 8sm base for a metallic palette. I’ve tried Wild Orchid and it has a great staying power but is just too pink for me. It got me the most compliments though. lol

  4. Hi Courtney I Hope You are Enjoying Your Day Today! Thanks So Much for Sharing Your Thoughts About the Pravana Wild Orchid Hair Color, I Really Appreciate it and I Have Been Wondering What Kind of Hair Color That You Use! I Haven’t Colored My Hair in Over 7 Years So I’m Ready for a Change! The Only Thing I’m Concerned About is if it Would Be Too Damaging on My Hair! I Have Really Long Hair But Because of My Hypothyroidism My Hair is Pretty Dry & it Falls Out in Handfuls So I am a Little Leary About That! I Would Like to Try Made Just Some Streaks of Color or Some Highlights That is Maybe Temporary But I Don’t Know How Well the Temporary Hair Colors Work! I Think Your Hair is Just Beautiful and I Think it’s Perfect for Summer, it Reminds Me of a Colorful Summer Sunset! Well Thanks Again for Sharing With Me, Have a Fabulous Weekend Court! – XO, Jana

  5. Wow, that color looks stunning on you! I’ve been wanting to try a fun color in my hair but haven’t done it yet.
