Urban Decay – The Glinda Palette – Are you a Good Witch?

Urban Decay was inspired by the new Disney film, Oz The Great and Powerful to create the Glinda palette. Michelle Williams plays the part of Glinda the Good Witch. (Check out my review of the Theodora the Bad Witch Palette.) This limited edition palette is all about the good witch! This set includes “duo-shades” that are split in half, with a different color on each side of the pan. They also come with a travel-size 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil and a Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color pencil.

The Glinda Palette – $49.00
Tornado
Vibrant deep purple shimmer
My Take
Deep purple with hints of pink. I love this sort of purple.

Aura
Iridescent white with blue shift/Iridescent white with red shift
My Take
Iridescent white with pink shift.
Iridescent white with blue-violet shift.
I love both of these colors! I find colors like this to be a lot of fun as accent colors or to add extra dimension to a look.

Magic
Pinkish purple with a golden shimmer
My Take
Soft orchid pink with purple undertones and golden shimmer. I love this so much!

Illusion
Pale peach satin
My Take
Pastel peach. I like this shade and find it flattering with my eyes. Also, I like it paired up with Tornado or layered under Aura.

Oz
Gold with gold glitter/Silver with silver glitter
My Take
Pale beige-gold with tons of gold and silver glitter. Lots and lots of fallout, like the old UD shades. I greatly dislike this shade.
Metallic silver with silver glitter. Slightly less fallout. I like this shade slightly better than the gold side. While I love gold and silver shadows, I absolutely hate glitter fallout.

South
Warm pale gray shimmer with silver micro-glitter
My Take
Shimmery warm grey with silver glitter. I’m a fan of warm greys.

Glinda Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color (.10 oz)
Light sheer nude
My Take
Light seashell pink. I really like this for when I need a neutral lip so it doesn’t compete with everything else I’m wearing. This might actually be the first Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color pencil that I own.

Urban Decay Glinda Lip Pencil

Rockstar 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil (.03 oz, Travel-sized)
Deep eggplant
My Take
Deep, red-based purple. Sometimes I use this pencil shade to fill in my brows when my hair is darker. This is a shade I like.

Urban Decay Disney Oz the Great and Powerful the Glinda Palette Swatches and Review

The eyeshadows total $108 for .05 oz each. The lip pencil is .10 oz for $19. The travel size pencil is .03 for about $14. Typically the Build Your Own Palette costs $18 and comes with the Walk of Shame eyeshadow (a great nude skintone shade for blending out the edges of color; also found in the Naked Basics palette) and a travel size eyeshadow brush. This set doesn’t have WoS or a brush. Depending on the value that you assign the LE palette packaging, the total value for each set is between $141 – $159. To me, this is a great deal for $49, especially if you’re a fan of the Wizard of Oz and love the packaging.

Michelle Williams as Glinda Tutorial

This set also comes with a pretty tutorial to pull off the Glinda the Good Witch look.

Do you need this palette?
If you’re a fan of Urban Decay, of the Wizard of Oz or iridescent colors, you need this palette! The only item I’m not fond of is Oz. I HATE the old style glitter fall out. It’s such a mess. However, I absolutely love the rest of the shades and I really love the neutral lip color. I’m always chasing after shades like Aura, so I really love seeing Urban Decay offer these colors. Additionally, in my opinion, this set is a great value for the price of $49. Of the two palettes – Glinda and Theodora – Glinda is actually my favorite. I love more of the shades in this one, as well as both pencils that were included. Also, I’m very happy that Urban Decay included ‘Get the Look’ cards. I love those!

What do you think of the Urban Decay Glinda palette?

  1. That lip color looks fantabulous on you! 🙂  Thanks for the swatches and review – yours is the first I’ve seen that has made me want this palette. 🙂

  2. I like Tornado, South, the blue half of Aura, and Rockstar, but I’m absolutely not buying a fifty dollar palette for two and a half shadows and a pencil. Theodora, on the other hand, is going straight into my wishlist.

  3. I honestly thought I would love Theodora more, but I love the shadows in the Glinda set more…but I do like the lip pencil in Theodora more and the palette container itself. I want them because I am a HUGE Wizard of Oz fan, but I don’t NEED either palette, the colors are pretty much similar to stuff I own…what to do what to do, haha. Great reviews!

  4. My husband has a Wizard of Oz pinball machine on order so I think I should buy this in honor of that very expensive purchase. Plus other than the gold and silver I’d love these shades too.
