Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette

Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette First Impressions Swatches Looks

I’m sharing my live swatches and first impressions of the Urban Decay Full Spectrum palette. This is a beautiful cruelty free rainbow eyeshadow palette with 21 colors – 18 new shades, 3 repromotes. I created 2 Full SpectrumEyeshadow looks. This has been compared to the Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca remix palette, but I think it’s better in my experience, as I’ve had  both. Just to be clear, this is not a full review.

For this quick eye look I used UDPP Eden, Delirious for the hood and lower lid, Sketch on the lid, Paranoia at the inner lid, Gossip blending the edges of Sketch and Paranoia, Bump to blend out the hood, Iced to highlight at the inner corner and under the brow, and Paranoia to deepen the outer corner.

In case you don’t know, UDPP Eden tends to mattify things and make them less sparkly, less shiny. But I had no issues with blending at all, as you can probably tell by how nice and smoky the purple looks.

For this quick eye look I used UDPP Eden primer, Minx on the hood and lower lid, Blindsided on the outer lid, Mean on the inner lid, Platonic at the outer corner, Bump to blend out the edges on the hood, Iced to highlight at the inner corner and under the brows.

For both crease colors for my eye I used a Sigma E36 (soft blending brush) to apply the color very softly.

Live Swatch Video

If you like this video, please share it!

The eyeshadows were more powdery than I expected. I was surprised that some of them swatched better on bare skin than on primer on my arm. However, I had no issues with the colors I used in my two looks. What did you think of the live swatches?

You may want to see my swatches of the original Spectrum Palette and the Electric Palette too. You may love the Afterdark Palette.

What do you think of the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette so far?

  1. Is this shadow easy to blend n use for a beginner? I can easily use a 4 combo palette n follow directions very well. Any pages or advice anyone can give me for bright mixing different combinations of colours would be appreciated

  2. That palette looks terrible. 4-7 passes each color ? No thanks. I’ll stick to my beloved Mi Vida Loca remix palette instead.

    1. My Mi Vida Loca was much worse than this. That’s why I returned it. It was a HUUUUGE disappointment. Now, the MetalMatte though, that one is amazing.

      1. Are you talking about the first Mi vida Loca or the 2nd one that is called “remix” ? I hear the first one was awful. I might go and swatch metal matte at sephora soon. I just need to buy some more elf brushes to go do it 😀

  3. I kind of expected brighter shades, but they are very pretty. I absolutely love your top! It looks incredible with your hair and skintone.

  4. This is a very good palette, BUT I think I like the Kat von D. better. Some of those swatches had me concerned, but most/majority were fine. Thank you so much for your informative first impressions, I really liked your video.

  5. The packaging on this palette is gorgeous. I absolutely think the colors are gorgeous too. I have the Electric Palette which I pull out for fun shades, but considering this is a larger palette, I think it would make a great go-to for fun and powerful show stopping shades. I haven’t been keeping up with roll outs lately, I had no idea this was coming out till I seen your photos.

  6. What a pretty palette! The colors are so beautifully saturated! I love the looks that you created! I love that combination of Hex and Violate on your lips! I need to double check to make sure that I don’t have either, but I need both if I don’t have them!

  7. Yay, the pop-ups are gone so I can see your beautiful swatches! What a fun palette, and actually a good deal for all you get. Your hair looks so stunning. How do you keep the color from fading?

    1. Yeah, let me know any time you have an issue with my site, I can always reach out to my ad network to fix it. The problem is often I don’t see it / experience it because I’m logged into my site and if you’re logged in you get a different experience than if you’re not logged in. As far as the hair, I wash about every 5 to 7 days in tepid water. I use Paul Mitchell Marula Oil Shampoo right now, and Marc Anthony Shea Butter conditioner. Every other time I wash I use oVertone Go Deep Conditioning mask.

  8. I’m really excited about this palette. Finally a palette without a brown! I’ve noticed that so many of the shadows that I have that try to use micro sparkle in a matte base (especially the gold sparkle) tend to be chalky. I’m not sure if that’s the case with all of these, but your swatches look great, so I’m hopeful!

    1. Definitely watch the video! For the swatches above I built up the colors on primer. In the video I talk about how the colors perform (some were problem children).

  9. Your swatches look really good! Other swatches I’ve seen look pretty terrible! Either the quality varies or you’re just a damn fine swatcher. Hahaha. And your looks look nice too, so IDK what is the internet problem with this. I am drawn to Jones, but with my intense copper hair…. idk. Ha!

    1. I did live swatches in the video. These swatches are much neater, I took my time, I used tape, etc. I think some colors are great, others are ok. I mention in the video which colors are patchy etc. Jones was problematic in the video. It may not be problematic when worn, I’m not sure. I used 10 colors for the first 2 looks I created. So I need to try and create more looks with the remaining 11. All of the colors I used for my looks above were easy to apply and blend out.
