Urban Decay Anti Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion Review

Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion Review

Quite a while back I received the Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I immediately fell in love with it! I’ve now been using it for a few months and it’s become my favorite eyeshadow primer.

The Website Says
An eye shadow primer that provides 24 hours of crease-free, vibrant eye color and minimizes the appearance of wrinkles in eight weeks. This formula not only locks shadow in place to give you vibrant, crease-free color that lasts all day, but also it contains high-tech ingredients that help to improve the signs of aging over time. Dermaxyl® helps smooth the appearance of wrinkles; Kalpariane® plumps, firms, and hydrates skin as it improves suppleness and elasticity; and optical blurring pigments create a subtle, soft-focus effect that instantly wakes up tired eyes and minimizes the appearance of redness, crepiness, and other imperfections. The shade is similar to Urban Decay’s original Eyeshadow Primer Potion, which dries down invisibly, but with a tiny bit of sheer pigment to even out and color-correct the skin.

In an 8-week clinical study:

  • 100% of participants had a measurable improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • 100% of participants had measurably brighter skin.
  • 97% of participants had a measurable improvement in radiance and clarity.

The Benefits of the High-Tech Ingredients:

  • Fights wrinkles
  • Improves tone and texture
  • Create a subtle, soft-focus effect
  • Instantly wake up tired eyes
  • Minimize the appearance of redness, crepiness and other imperfections

Formulated without Parabens, sulfates and phthalates. Urban Decay is cruelty-free.

My Thoughts
I’m a sucker for anti-aging products. I do think that this is the best primer that Urban Decay has put out. It does NOT crease or fade on me, where I did have trouble in the past with UDPP creasing on me sometimes. The colors are very vibrant and true to tone. A few shades I’ve noticed were a tad darker than I expected but for the most part everything has been true to color.

I love the packaging design and I find it doesn’t dispense too much product. You can easily dispense the exact amount of primer that you need. With the toothpaste design, you can get out every last drop of the .37 oz, too, which I appreciate. It usually takes me over a year to finish a primer, so I always feel that they’re a worthwhile investment.

As far as the anti-aging claims and diminishing wrinkles claims… I’ve not seen much. I have been using this primer nearly non-stop, as it’s been my go to for months now. I’ve seen maybe a tiny bit of improvement under the eyes and on the lid, but nothing like… all my little lines are gone. Now, I can tell you that if I’ve used some glitter on my eyes, or a brush that was scratchy, enough that it irritated my eyelid, when I went to put on UDPPAA, my eyelid stung momentarily and then stopped. So I do think that there are ingredients that are beneficial, like my moisturizers, but I’m not going to give up my moisturizers in favor of a primer. I’ll still keep using them in addition to my primer.  I’m sort of looking at this primer as every little bit of anti-aging products help.

I’m impressed with this primer! It creates a beautiful canvas for bright or neutral looks. It doesn’t crease or fade on me. It has a tiny tint, so if I just wanted to put this on to even out my skintone on my lid, I could. Do I think it works well at Anti-Aging? Not that I could really tell for me, but it might work for others. Would I purchase? Yes! I’m really happy to have an eyeshadow primer from UD that works so well for me. So many primers crease on me, but this one does not. It’s a keeper!

  1. I bought this two weeks ago, and I’m sending it back tomorrow. If you could see my eyes, you’d be horrified. Red, swollen, itchy, peeling, painful, both eyelid and undereye area. I’m so allergic to something in here it’s not funny. I’ve never had this reaction before with any makeup.

    1. I had the same reaction and it was truly awful. I also had a similar reaction to the Urban Decay Eyeshadow.

  2. I’ve been trying to purchase UD anti-aging eye primer, but it’s always out of stock. The regular primer used to crack on my lids so I’m sure this will be a better bet for me. Frankly, I’m not really expecting any reparative anti-aging benefits from it, but I’m hoping it will keep my eyeshadow from looking dry and cracked on my eyelids.
