Spring Break Beach Essentials

Spring Break Beach Essentials

Spring Break is upon us and I have my list of Spring Break Beach Essentials to share with you! First up, you need SPF, especially if you’re going to hit one of the beautiful beaches we have here in Florida. My favorite beach is Indian Rocks Beach. Siesta Key, Key West, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Cocoa Beach and Clearwater are also highly rated beaches.

Spring Break Beach Essentials

You need to make sure that you apply sunblock liberally to your body. The rule of thumb is one ounce per person (if you’re in a swimsuit). You need to apply it at least 15 minutes before you go out into the sun. Then you need to reapply every 2 hours if you’re not in the water. If you’re in the water, they recommend reapplying each time you get out of the water.

Ocean Potion Anti-Aging Sunblock SPF 50 (8 oz.)
I use this for my body and face, but not the eyes. It has a light pleasant scent that’s sort of like a creamsicle. It’s long wearing, water and sweat resistant.

NO-AD Water Resistant Sunscreen Lotion SPF 85 (16 fl. oz.)
This is on my to-try list because it’s supposed to be one of the best sunscreens for the beach or outdoors. You can get this at Publix or other grocery stores.

Alba Botanica Revitalizing Hawaiian Sunscreen SPF 45 (4 oz.)
This is a nice moisturizing sunscreen with broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

Paula’s Choice Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen SPF 50 (5 fl. oz.)
Another on my to-try list, this is suitable for use on the face as well as the body. It’s supposed to give you a matte finish and be nice under makeup, too. This is vegan.

Mineral Fusion Mineral SPF 40 (3.4 fl. oz.)
I absolute love this sunblock. It’s a physical sunblock. It’s also vegan.

Supergoop! Spf 30 Lip Balm (.5 fl. oz.)
Keep your lips protected from the sun so they stay soft and smooth.

Now that we’ve got SPF covered, let’s talk about accessories and other things!

Modcloth Swimsuits
You can get some seriously sassy swimsuits from Modcloth! If you like one pieces, Inlet to Win It, So Splashy or Cape Me Away are cute. I prefer 2 pieces and really like the Dive Got a Feeling set or the Betsey Johnson I Got You Bay set.

The Crystal Cult Sunglasses
You need sunglasses, and you’ll be hard pressed to find more gorgeous sunglasses than the ones offered by the Crystal Cult. My favorites are the Veronica, Aiden and Ivy, but there are many more options.

Crocs Patricia Wedge Sandals
I’m a fan of crocs sandals, and these are perfect for the beach. Plus, they come in black. Everything is better in black.

Coolibar UPF 50 Wide Brim Sun Hat
If you feel you need a hat, this wide brim hat is rated at UPF 50 and will protect your face and neck.

Kindle Fire
I never go to the beach without my kindle. It puts over 500 books at my fingertips so I can enjoy the sound of the waves hitting the beach under the umbrella while I read.

Phantom Aquatics Snorkeling Mask Set
It’s always fun to have a snorkeling mask set for the beach. This set comes in turquoise, pink, and many other colors too.

Black Crochet Cover Up
This is my favorite type of cover up for the beach. Though if you want more covered you can always go for a black dress, lacey dress, skirt or a sarong.

Sportlite Beach Blanket
Available in many colors, this can easily fit two people. I also found this Vampire Bite Me towel to be cute.

Sport-Brella Beach Umbrella
This portable umbrella is perfect for the beach. Plus it comes in a turquoise blue, dark blue and red. Of course, if you don’t like that, you can always go for a cute skull umbrella.

Finally, I always bring a cooler with water and usually some snack bars and fruit. I’m a fan of That’s It Fruit Bars and Kind Bars.

What are your beach essentials? Are you enjoying Spring Break this year? I wish I was!

  1. Modcloth has this a really cute two piece swimsuit, sort of retro styled, called ‘You’ve Got chemistry’ I’m just dying to get!

  2. I don’t go to a beach often but I do sit in the shade at my friend’s lake house almost every weekend. I need my SPF products there since shade isn’t enough. You’ve got some great choices on here.

  3. Awesome suggestions!! The beach at Delray Beach(Atlantic Ave) which is of course not too far from the W. Palm Beach/Palm Beach area was so amazing! And I loved it because they had these cabanas and nice chairs which we don’t have here at our L.A. area beaches! The water was also SO clear and clean and NOT COLD like ours! Amazing! The Paula’s Choics Extra Care is a perfect beach sunscreen. It won’t break you out but is very waterproof and sweatproof, worked so well for me! Thanks for the Mineral Fusion SPF 40 recently tried that and didn’t break out either! I also love Paula’s Choice Resist SPF and Hydralight, great under makeup! Sunglasses are a MUST! Thankfully I just got new glasses and they are Transitions like always so I love those! A hat is so great too, i borrowed my friend’s for the beach in FL but love you suggestion for Crystal Cult and the Black Crochet Cover Up! I’m a cover-up gal for sure!

  4. I’m gobsmacked. “Everything is better in black.”
Don’t you mean: “everything is better in purple”?!
    Phyrra!

    1. If it’s a cover up for the beach, definitely black. The majority of my wardrobe is black, but I definitely have pops of color from teal and purple in there 🙂

  5. Supergoop is a must have, but I haven’t tried their lip balm yet, so I’ll have to grab some! Great list!

  6. I live about 20 mins from the beach, so of course we don’t ever go there anymore! Lol. I used to use no-ad all the time. Can’t beat the price, and it’s good stuff.

  7. Definitely a good sunscreen, lots of it! A wide brimmed sun hat, sunglasses, a sarong for a cover up, plenty of water and some chilled fresh fruit!

  8. I’ve heard great things about supergoop. I wish I were going somewhere for spring break. Heck, I wish I HAD a spring break. LOL Life of an adult.

  9. I went to the Paula’s Choice site and couldn’t find any Special Care non greasy with spf 50. Most I could find is 15. Was I missing something? I’d love a new non greasy spf 30+ that works great under makeup.

      1. Here I thought I was missing something. (that would usually be the case to miss something right in front of my face !)

      1. Thanks so much! I wonder why it’s not on her site at the moment? Hmmm either way, thanks again!

  10. I will be on the lookout for Supergoop’s eye cream with SPF. Since we still have snow and ice on the ground, it hasn’t shown up in Sephora. Since it’s still too cold to hang out outside, I can wait 😉

  11. I love the Kiss My Face line of sunscreens. I run and their Cool Sport spray sunscreen is great, really keeps me protected even when I’m all sweaty.
