Pravana Vivid Violet and Wild Orchid Hair

Pravana Vivid Violet and Wild Orchid

Last night I dyed my hair, which I haven’t done in close to 12 weeks. Doing the Wild Orchid to Violet gradient was much easier this time around. I started at the bottom with the Wild Orchid, applied it all over, then combed through my hair, working up a little higher than before. Then I applied Violet at my root and combed down. I added some more Wild Orchid and combed the middle.

Ray helped me bleach my roots but I did all the coloring myself. I used Wild Orchid straight from the tube. I mixed Violet with 50% Cocoa Pink Argan Therapy Creme. For the teal, which is darker than I wanted, I used Pravana Green mixed with a bit of Ion Color Brilliance in Aqua. I left the color on with a plastic cap on for about an hour and a half.

I went to see my wonderful stylist Lori at Cameo Salon today and she trimmed my hair. She basically dusted the ends of my layers that are growing out. Then she decided to play with my hair and style it. She amped up the volume (which you know I love) and then she braided the front of my hair in 2 different directions.

I think I did a great job with my gradient.

Lori did a haphazard plait on my right side.

Lori did a volumizing, loose french braid with a twist in for my growing out bangs on this side.

I have Mirvaso on my skin and SPF, no other makeup on my face (though it certainly needs it today!)

I’m wearing the following on my lips

  • Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Champagne (blotted down, as a base)
  • OCC Makeup Colour Pencil in Hoochie (to line the lips)
  • Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipstick in Wonderchilde

I love that it looks like my hair is growing longer. I really love the color, too. The purple gradient is just so much fun to look at!

What do you think of the purple? Would you wear the braids?

  1. This is so beautiful! The hairstyle is adorable and I agree, your gradient looks amazing! I think this is my favorite hair you’ve ever had so far 🙂

  2. SOOOOO pretty! Love the colours and your hair is getting so long! I would totally wear the braids, I think they look super cute. I really think your skin looks really calm and smooth in these photos!!

  3. Love the new colors! I love the braid too though I couldn’t wear it b/c I need a fringe or I feel naked. lol I just changed my haircolor too — I have an earlobe-length bob (ala Louise Brooks) and did the underneath layers in plum-black and the top layers in a deep magenta-purple (SFX Virgin Rose mixed with MP Ultra Violet).

  4. Love your hair colors and length. I actually just used those two colors on my hair yesterday, but my hair is really short and I only split the two between a portion of the crown. My stylist used the Wild Orchid on the front area and split it into a triangular pattern with Violet facing the back. The rest of my head is blonde, however, not quite as brave to do the whole head, though:)

  5. Your hair color looks fantastic! Love the braids too. I did * a lot* of braiding across the front while growing out my hair. I like how your stylist started it a couple inches from the part and left volume first. I need to try it!

  6. That is a gorgeous purple! You did a great job and I like the braids and your are right it is a gorgeous, fun color to look at!
