Performance Colors Light & Smooth Foundation Review

Performance Colors Light and Smooth Foundation Review in Snowie

In early July my friend Sam turned me on to Performance Colors. I saw their Light and Smooth foundation and just had to try it. It’s a cream to matte powder finish foundation.

The Website Says
Light and smooth foundation for ladies who don’t like a heavy foundation. Dries down quickly so it barely feels like you are wearing anything. All day wear! Matte powdery finish! Smooth and beautiful with light reflecting spheres to blur imperfections and wrinkles. This foundation is lightweight and spreads easily over any skin type. It comes in in warm (yellow undertones), neutral, and cool (pink undertones). At the fair end of the spectrum the color shift is more subtle. Sample sizes are available. Oil-free formula and a non-oily feel – made with non-cosmogeic ingredients to not block pores. Contains 4% zinc oxide and 11% titanium dioxide for approximate sun protection of 12-15%.**

**For those concerned with long-term skin exposure to UVA/UVB rays, this product contains 11% titanium dioxide and 4% zinc oxide. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide offer protection by reflecting the rays of sun when suspended in a cream so they act like a physical barrier. This is especially good for people with sensitive skin or allergies to sunscreen additives. The FDA has a stringent SPF labeling process. A product must submit to yearly tests to substantiate its claims of protection.

Ingredients
Beeswax, Silica, Titanium dioxide, Cyclopentasiloxane (and) Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Isoeicosane, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Cyclomethicone, Methicone, Zinc, Cyclopentasiloxane, Magnesium stearate, Magnesium myristrate, Stearic Acid, Vitamin E Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Hexylene Glycol. Stearic Acid, Iron oxides, Ultramarine Blue, fragrance.

Price
$10 for .5 oz, samples available

Performance Colors is cruelty free. You can purchase their products at Etsy.

I like that the company owner lists the amount of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide but doesn’t make specific SPF claims. She lists off helpful information to people who don’t know about the FDA’s stringent requirements.

I prefer to apply this with the Sigma F88 or the beauty blender sponge. Snowie is a perfect match for my skintone.

It says the coverage is medium and I find it perfect for me. Surprisingly, I got better wear with this product without a primer, though I need to experiment with different primers. I get 7 to 8 hours of wear but I need a touch up on my t-zone. If I set this with NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting powder (I swear this stuff is amazing!), I get between 9 and 10 hours. It’s easy to do a touch up with it, too, because it just melds into the skin and easily blends into what you’ve already got on.

I love the matte finish, but if you don’t like it, I would use a subtle face highlighter or finishing powder that adds a glow.

If you don’t want medium coverage, take a beauty blender, get it wet and wring it out, then dab it in the foundation and ‘bounce’ it to apply it to your face. If you want medium coverage, use a cream foundation brush or the beauty blender dry.

Overall, I’m very impressed with this cream to powder foundation! If you’re a fan of cream foundations, I recommend checking out this one from Performance Colors. I’ll be reviewing more of their products.

What do you think of Performance Colors Light & Smooth foundation? What shade would you wear?

  1. AmberM It dries down to the skin to be like a second skin, which is great. I don’t always like how it looks under my eyes, but if I set under the eyes with NARS Light Reflecting  Loose Setting Powder I’m good.

  2. Ok, Phyrra, this is the first indie sample order I’ve placed in several years. . .let’s see how it goes.
