One Brand Drugstore Tutorial Nyx Cosmetics

Today is the first official day of Fall! I’ve got a One Brand Drugstore Tutorial Nyx Cosmetics to share with you. Yes, you can shop cruelty free at the drugstore with Nyx and they’re very affordable. They also have some great dupes for higher end products! I love their lip products, brow products, and now their base products. Their white foundation mixer is extremely helpful for me, since it allows me to lighten base products that would be too dark for my skintone.

Hair Style Change

From Pravana Teal to Pravana Red

You may have noticed that I changed my hair from Pravana black and teal. It’s still Pravana, but it’s a blackened red at the top that changes into a brighter red towards the bottom. You better believe I ordered some oVertone Go Deep Intense Red hair mask to help me maintain this beautiful color!

The Dupe List

I really like the HD Studio Foundation and #NoFilter Finishing powder. I think they worked great. I’ll be doing a wear test with the HD Studio Foundation soon. I also really like the lip products. I’m sure you already know that I love the Micro Brow pencil because I’ve used it so frequently the past few years.

As I mentioned in the video, I really had a difficult time with the eyeshadows. I’ve got 3 Nyx palettes currently (Bossy, Sex Bomb and Avant Pop Art Throb) and I didn’t like how any of them performed for me. I had 2 failed eyeshadow tutorial attempts before finally going for a super simple look. I just could not get good color payoff, even when wet. It was disappointing.

I’m loving my new blackened red hair. It’s such a nice change from the black and teal. Christian used a mix of Pravana Permanent reds and then layered some Pravana Vivids on top to add more dimension. I think it’s gorgeous for Fall.

Let me know what you think of the new hair and the tutorial!

  1. Looks great! Would it be possible to get a swatch the NYX #nofilter powder? I’ve been thinking about ordering it but I don’t know if it will be too dark. I usually set my foundation with Hourglass ethereal but I’m almost out. Thanks!

  2. I have given up on Nyx eyeshadow palettes, but the Prismatic singles are some of my favorites. I like them as much as the Makeup Geek Foiled shadows. I also have a few of the matte singles that are pretty good.

I love the new hair color, just in time for fall.

  3. Sadly NYX can be so hit or miss on their eyeshadows. Some of their products are always hits but I’m almost afraid to buy e/s. Great new hair color. What fun to change the way you do.

  4. I am absolutely LOVING your hair, Courtney!!!!!!!! I need that pretty pink blush! Thank you so much for letting me know that the eye shadows are difficult to work with! <3

  5. I just saw something on another blog about Pravana’s new blonde system, with a flat iron like device? Is that how you get your hair lightened? Just curious!

    1. Hi! So Yeah I saw the new flat iron looking device for lightening hair on Popsugar! I asked my stylist about it and they do have it at his salon but he hasn’t used it yet. Other people there do love it.

      1. Awesome! I’m a bleach blonde, so am going to ask my stylist about it. The damage is annoying. Love the red on you!

  6. In spite of your issues with the eye shadow, your NYX look is fabulous. I didn’t realize they had a base whitener. I just bought a bottle of Manic Panic Dreamtone…next time
