Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Technopagan Lip Tar Review
Wearing Cover FX CC Cream in X-tra Light, Darling Girl eyeshadows and OCC Lip Tar in Technopagan

This shade is not for the mild. Technopagan is described as a metallic blackened purple with blue pearl and I think that fits it perfectly. I just love how this color looks with my hair. It’s perfect!

For me, this was one of the easier lip tar shades to apply. I do wish it had a matching pencil though!

My Tips for Application

  1. Start by exfoliating your lips.
  2. Moisturize your lips after you exfoliate.
  3. Blot off any excess moisture.
  4. Apply OCC Lip Tar in Clear as a base or use OCC Colour Pencil in Anti-Feathered (clear) or another pencil you like.
  5. With a lip brush, take a tiny rain drop amount of Technopagan (or any other lip tar shade you want to use) and use that to paint the thinnest layer of color possible on your lips. If you get more product than you anticipated, start at the center inner part of your lips and work your way out.
  6. Blot if necessary.

I need to talk about the value of lip tars. These are an amazing deal for the price. You’re getting .33 oz of product for $18. Compare that to Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks, which are $22 for .09 oz, MAC lipsticks (not cruelty free) that are $16 for .10 oz, Ardency Inn, which are $25 for .12 oz, and Too Faced Melted Lipsticks, which are $21 for .4 oz. Only the Too Faced Melted lipsticks come close for the value.

I’m really glad I picked up this shade because, while I think it’s a daring choice for Fall and I absolutely love it, it’s a color I can see myself wearing year round.

What do you think of Technopagan? Would you wear this lip tar, or stick to the matching nail polish?

  1. I love Lip Tars, they’ve almost completely replaced all of my other lip products. They last all day on me and don’t dry my lips out as much as some other long-wearing products I’ve tried. And Technopagan! OMG. Now, I work in insurance. I have to keep my make-up neutral/natural most of the time. But I love this color… I am already scheming how to convince my office to dress up for Halloween so I can show it off to my co-workers. My husband hates it, but oh well.

  2. *o/* Perfection!!! *o/* It looks gorgeous on you! It matches all of the tones in your hair! Technopagan is my #1 from this collection. It’s such a stunner! The blue glow is just…*swoon*

I totally agree – I would LOVE a matching pencil! It would be amazing for lips and eyes (eyes depending on the formula). Great tips for application! I put OCC Clear under pretty much everything these days. It’s a great primer. 😀

  3. I’ve only recently “discovered” the OCC Lip Tars, and I’m loving them, particularly the metallics.
However, I just am not the “blue lips” type. Purplish shades, yes. Neon fuchsia, yes. Fire engine red – DEFINITELY!
Blue, nope. But those who like it and can pull it off should go for it!

  4. Guh, it’s so pretty! I wonder what it would look like mixed with some of the red lip tars, or even Lydia. Any chance you’d be willing some do some mixed swatches?

    1. Ooh, mixed with Lydia! That’s such an awesome idea, you gave me chills! (I probably need to get a life, lol)

    2. Once I’m back from vacation I can try mixing with a few. I don’t think I own Lydia, but I do own Black Metal Dahlia and several others.

  5. It’s a really stunning colour. I could see myself buying this and wanting to wear it, but being too chicken. Not unlike my other dark purples, and my orange, and my lilac….

  6. I just got this and Black Metal Dahlia. I love them! I was impressed that just a teeny drop did full coverage on both my lips. Technopagan is the blurple I’ve been looking for all my life. My son told me they made my lips look very “sexy vampire.”

    1. I agree! It’s definitely the most perfect blurple I have ever tried. I wish it had a matching Colour Pencil and loose eyeshadow, too.

  7. I absolutely love this lip tar and it SO matches your hair perfectly! I’m definitely going to get this AND wear it this fall as soon as my darn braces are off! I love this eye look also – hope there is an upcoming tutorial, hee hee!

    1. Yes – how DO you get your lashes so looong?
I know you do it with cruelty-free products, too, so I’m itching to know your secret. It seems like many of the highest rated mascaras are put out by testing brands, durn it.

    2. There is a tutorial video, I just haven’t had time to edit it yet. I’ve got like 8 videos waiting for me to edit them but each video takes me about 2 hours to do and I’m currently spending time with my family on vacation, so haven’t been able to edit.

  8. This looks great on you! Like you said, it is amazing with your hair; it practically matches! I am so glad I ordered this yesterday, now I can’t wait for it to arrive!
