Nyx Nude Matte and Glam Eyeshadows Review

Nyx Eyeshadows Review

Quite a while ago I picked up several Nyx eyeshadows. Most were in the new formula, but I picked up one old trio too. I believe the old trios have been discontinued.

Nyx is cruelty free and PETA approved.

My Thoughts
Ok, the bad first. The old trio was disappointing to me and I found it lacking pigmentation. So I’m really glad that Nyx came out with an updated eyeshadow formula. Aloha is really pretty but the pigmentation makes it hard to see. Mink Brown is really pale, too. Deep Bronze shows up ok. But overall, this trio is not one I would recommend.

I LOVE the Nude Mattes. I picked up Haywire hoping it would be a cruelty free dupe for MAC Copperplate, a favorite of mine. It’s not a dupe but it’s definitely a nice shade. Blame it on Midnight reminds me of a less orange version of MAC Samoa Silk. Kiss the Day reminds me of MAC Blanc Type. I thought the pigmentation was best in Blame it on Midnight. Haywire and Kiss the Day were less pigmented.

The Glam shadows are a lot of fun, though they do have a bit of fall out during the initial application. I especially love Golden Chamber. It’s so pretty.

Overall, I think as long as you use primer, you’ll be happy with the Glam and Nude Matte eyeshadows and can expect 8 to 10 hours of wear.

Have you tried the Nude Mattes or Glam Eyeshadows? Any shades you recommend?

Pros

  • Budget friendly
  • Cruelty free
  • Good shade range (21 shades available in the Nude Mattes & 22 shades available in the Glam)

Cons

  • Skip the old trio, weak pigmentation
  • Glam shades have a bit of fallout. If you don’t like glitter and don’t like cleaning up fallout during application you’ll dislike this line.

  4. Phyrra, if you’re willing to give the (old) NYX trios another shot, I highly recommend Rock and Roll.

  5. I’ve had similar experiences with the NYX trios not being as pigmented. I bought some of the Love in Rio and Paris ones, though, and they are really nice. Ulta or Cherry Culture is usually having a sale on them, so it’s worth it for me to wait.

  6. I’m really liking all of these colors, they’re perfect for less adventurous ladies like myself 🙂

  7. I have one of the Nude Matte shadows (Tryst), and I like it quite a bit. I haven’t picked up any of the Glam Eye Shadows because I was worried about fallout. Although they look gorgeous, I’ll continue to skip those. In general, NYX singles seem to be better quality than their palettes. I have a few different small NYX palettes, and I’m not really impressed with any of them.

  8. I haven’t tried and NYX shadows before (love their lipsticks!) and I definitely have to now! Love the matte shades!
