Mineral Fusion Mineral SPF 40 Moisturizer Review

Mineral Fusion Mineral SPF 40 Moisturizer Review

A while back I had the opportunity to try out the Mineral Fusion Mineral SPF 40 Moisturizer. This was fortuitous because I was looking for a moisturizer with SPF that had a physical sunblock rather than the chemical sunblock that I had been using.

First, I love that I’m getting 3.4 oz for the price instead of 1 or 1.7 oz of product. So I feel like it’s a good value for the price and you’re getting a lot of product. Also, at that price, you’re not likely to stint on the amount you apply. I always apply my moisturizer with SPf liberally to my face, neck, and décolleté. I have another sunblock (Ocean Potion) that I apply to my hands, arms and anything else exposed to the sun.

Second, it doesn’t irritate my eyes. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It doesn’t cause me to break out. It protects me from getting burnt when I’m outside with Phaedra. It absorbs into my skin and makes it feel soft instead of greasy. While it does have a hint white cast, that will fade. I do find myself using blotting paper about 15 minutes after application but before I apply my foundation. I don’t have an issue applying makeup after that.

Third, I love that it’s SPF 40, because my dermatologist feels that I should always wear SPF 30 or greater. The woman who was conducting my IPL treatments recommended switching to a physical sunblock (which I used to use), which is why I was looking for another sunblock.

Fourth, I’m happy it’s vegan because I’m often asked for vegan skincare recommendations and sometimes it’s hard for me to find moisturizers with SPF that are vegan that I can recommend.

While I love that it says it has anti-aging properties, I’m not sure how effective they are because of how far down the ingredients listing they are. Palmitoyl Pentapeptide 3 is supposed to be an effective anti-aging, anti-wrinkle ingredient that does not irritate sensitive skin.

I love this moisturizer with SPF and it when it runs out I will be buying another bottle.

Have you tried Mineral Fusion Mineral SPF 40 Moisturizer? What’s your favorite facial SPF with physical sunblock?

  1. Great thank you! I’ve been trying to look for a sunscreen that has those properties…non irritating to the skin or eyes, good protection, doesn’t completely sweat off, and works under makeup! The latter I have a really hard time with! And yes, usually you don’t get a lot for the price and I have to remind myself to still use it liberally. So do you think that it’s sweatproof enough that it will last through walks with Phaedra? Because that’s my normal routine is walking Alice and Henry. And I would of course love a sunscreen that won’t separate from my makeup or cast too much of a white sheen(like the Cerave did) And of course the fact that it didn’t break you out is great-that’s always my concern. Any heaviness especially around the eye area causes me to get those milia bumps. I ordered the Paula’s Choice but I think I’ll go to Whole Foods and try this one too! Yes, my dermatologist recommended 30 or above for the face too.

      1. Ok great thanks, and I know it’s very humid in Fl so that must mean it’s somewhat sweatproof. I’m going to be in Delray Beach, FL in March to visit with my college friends, so I’ll be prepared now:)

  2. I may have to check this out! I currently have Formula 10.0.6 Picture Perfect Day – which I started using because I didn’t like the shimmer in Aveeno Positively Radiant (or that it made my eyes burn) – but I don’t like the way it leaves my skin feeling.

  3. Thanks for posting! Just ran out of my Paula’s choice sunscreen and I totally forgot to reorder on time. So happy to be able to pick up something from Target on my way home!
