Recently I purchased Melt Cosmetics 6six6 Lipstick. On Oct. 4 Melt Cosmetics announced that they’d be restocking their lipsticks so I decided I HAD to grab a few shades to review since Melt Cosmetics is cruelty free and vegan. I’ve seen them all summer long on Instagram and been drooling over their colors.

I purchased several shades, but I’m reviewing 6six6 today. 6six6 is a deep blackened red matte. It’s not as dark as the pictures on the website make it out to be but you can change the shade with lipliners, so I’ve swatched it on its own, and on top of several different liners. To achieve the shade on the website, try NARS Train Bleu as a liner underneath.I swatched my OCC DIY custom blue pencil (see my DIY lip tar pencils), OCC RX pencil, Melt Cosmetics 6six6 lipstick, NARS Train Bleu pencil and Nyx Black Lips pencil.
Then I swatched Melt Cosmetics 6six6 on top of all the shades. From left to right – DIY Lip Tar blue, OCC Rx, 6six6 (by itself), NARS Train Bleu, and Nyx Black Lips.
This shade wore very well. It’s a dry formula but not drying on me, so it’s comfortable for me to wear. Before application, I exfoliated my lips and moisturized them, put on the rest of my makeup, then blotted off the excess moisturizer. After all that, I applied 6six6.
I wore it for 3 hours and then had lunch, which required the tiniest of touch ups (basically the inside of my lips). It continued to wear for another 4 hours, requiring a tiny touch up after dinner. Then I wore it for another 5 hours and it showed very minimal wear before I took it off for the evening. Basically on me, this wears all day and only requires touch ups after eating a meal.
While the color wasn’t exactly what I expected based on the Melt Website images, I’m really happy with 6six6. The color is long wearing and matte. It’s deep, yet vivid. If you’re looking for a deep red matte shade, you should check out Melt Cosmetics 6six6 when it’s back in stock.
