Makeup Wars – Most Expensive Face

It’s time for another round of Makeup Wars! This time it’s the most expensive face we can put together! For me, I based my most expensive face off of a look that I recently did. The point of this was to take the most expensive items from your collection to make your face.

I feel that I should point out that my MAC and Smashbox were purchased before I found out that they were no longer cruelty-free. I have not purchased MAC or Smashbox since, but I am continuing to use up all the makeup that I purchased from before that point. I am still looking for a cruelty-free replacement for MAC Fix+ and Smashbox Lash Primer.

  1. Please share with us if you find a good cruelty-free alternative to the Smashbox lash primer. That one is my favorite, but since I got into the beauty blogs maybe a year and a half ago, I’m much more conscientious about purchasing cruelty-free cosmetics. It’s hard to give up favorites sometimes!

  2. You look beautiful as always, and especially serene in the last photo.Gosh, you’re incredibly photogenic!

  3. Have you tried the homemade version of the MAC Fix+? I’ve never used the Fix+ but I’ve tried out the homemade version (I found recipes for it on Youtube lol..I am too frugal for my own good sometimes) but it’s relatively simple…and it works realllly nicely for my pigments! Only downside is you have to make it every 2 weeks to a month, depending on how often you use it. 3 parts water(distilled, boiled tap, or spring) and 1 part pure glycerin(around $4 at Walmart near the rubbing alcohol), mix in a spray bottle(some have recycled their MAC Fix+ bottles for this) and shake before each use. It works great to thin out some of the really thick foundations as well with a spray(drop) or two.

  4. I love the eye look!  You do a great job of adding in fun color and making your eyes pop.

  5. Great look! How do you like the Illamasqua foundation? I keep looking for new things to try there since I have yet to find my perfect one.

    1. CarleenPruessCoulter I like it a lot! But, I love the UD Naked Skin more. Right now the Naked is my favorite and I brought it with me on my recent trip.

      1. Phyrra I was thinking of trying UD Naked. I’ll have to give it a shot!

        1. Phyrra I just discovered that I have a sample of the UD foundation! I think it came with my smoked palette and I just set it aside and forgot about it! Woot!

  6. So far the only other participant I’ve seen is Pink Sith. She has you beaten by quite a bit, and her FOTD looks great, but so does yours as always! 🙂

  7. I’m loving how your eyes and hair coordinate!  An electrifying look!  You and I are the resident cheapskates, Phyrra!  Only about $1 difference between us.  Guess we need to go shopping together.

  8. I like the honey-glazed lips look. I was looking for a MAC+fix alternative, I’ve never used it, or owned it, but I know what it can be used for. I went on a google rampage and found you can make your own with glycerin and water, and I found this very helpful post:)Hope it helpshttp://www.brownbombshellbeauty.com/2009/12/mac-fix-plus-alternative-cheap/

  9. This challenge looks like fun! The only problem is the value of ALL the makeup I own I’m sure is less than the grand total of the products you used on just the look, above (which is gorgeous, by the way). Woe is me! I guess I need to win the Two-Faced Giveaway so I can buy some more high end cosmetics….<grin>

    1. Twirly Girly If it helps, I’ve been purchasing makeup for a very long time, and this was the most expensive face I could put together. A lot of my products I purchase on sale (20% off YAY).

  10. Your face looks flawless!! All the colors you used are so perfect for you–love your lip color too!

  11. Your eyes alone look like a million bucks. I get so much use out of my Sephora Pro Airbrush lately. I always forget how great it is.

    1. Marcia beauty info zone Thank you Marcia! And yes, it is! Izzy from Musings of a Muse told me about it, so I picked it up and it is PERFECT for under the eyes.

  12. Your eyes look beautiful, as always. I love the NARS palette. You are the second one to feature that I think. Great job!
