Makeup Wars 5 Minute Face

Happy Monday! Today we’re sharing our Makeup Wars 5 Minute Face. I’ll share with you the Beauty products that I use to put together my quick, polished, 5 Minute Face. Of course, all products used are cruelty free.

Makeup Wars 5 Minute Face

Before I start my 5 Minute Face Beauty Routine, let me share with you how I prep my skin. While I can get away without putting on moisturizer with SPF if I’m using a tinted moisturizer with SPF, I typically always wear it regardless because it’s part of my routine and I hate to vary from that. Plus, I want to make sure that I NEVER stint on using SPF! I use Supergoop! Save Face SPF 35 AM Moisturizer. During the dry Winter months, if I need a little extra moisture under my eyes I add a drop of Paula’s Choice RESIST Super Antioxidant Serum under my eyes before I put on Supergoop!.

For me, the 5 minute face is all about looking polished. The basics I focus on are perfect looking skin, groomed brows and some color on my lips. Everything else is just optional.

Step 1

When I’m doing an ultra quick routine, I usually start out with a tinted moisturizer like NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I can slap it on and it hides the imperfections in my skin and makes me look great. An alternative to this (though it does take me longer to apply because I like to use a wet beauty blender), is the Cover FX CC Cream Time Release Tinted Treatment SPF 30. These really are great complexion perfection products.

Step 2

Next, I focus on defined brows. I just finally hit on my favorite technique for the brows. Fill in the outer brow with tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse. I use the shade Rich Brown. I also use this to fill in my scar a bit, without focusing on it too much as I don’t want to draw attention to it. For my inner brow, to make it look well-groomed but not drawn on with a sharpie, I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel. Right now I use the shade Granite. You can go back over the rest of the hairs to help hold them into place. If you have thicker brows (I naturally have thin brows) you can probably skip the brow mousse and just use the tinted brow gel. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Duo Angled Spooley 7 brush to apply and blend the brow products. I own 2 of these because yes, it is that awesome.

Step 3

Add a bit of color to the cheeks. I prefer to use a cream blush in this case, like Tarina Tarantino Coral Cameo or Nyx Natural. Coral Cameo is a great natural peachy-pink flush for my skintone. Natural is a very natural nude pink color that looks great, too. If you’re not comfortable with creams, this is the time to whip out a powder blush like NARS Orgasm or any other peachy-pink blush you love. You want something that you can apply quickly without worry of going overboard.

Step 4

Color your lips. Whether you prefer to go wild or mild, add some color to your lips. Use a lip pencil like the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil or lipstick like the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick. Right now I’ve been reaching for NARS Damned or Never Say Never, as well as Urban Decay Anarchy or Native.  It’s too bad Stila is no longer cruelty free, because I would also recommend the After Glow lip pencils. If you’re using a lipstick, I would recommend apply the lipstick then gently using your finger tip to pat it onto your lips for more of a stained effect, then blot. This is how you can take a bold shade like Anarchy and tone it down, yet still get a great color and wear time.

Step 5

Then I do a quick coat of mascara, preferably Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. If you hate mascara, you can skip this.

5 Minute Face

This is my finished 5 minute face. As you can see the NARS tinted moisturizer covers up my rosacea and any little zits that I have from a flare up. It evens out my skintone and provides me with enough coverage that I feel comfortable just wearing this.

My 5 Minute Eye

This is the 5 minute eye with only a bit of Camille to highlight under the brow and at the inner corner.

Optional Step

If you have time to apply eyeshadow, make sure you use a base like Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Then apply a wash of color. When you’re in a hurry, products like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencils are great! I’d recommend eye brightening shades like Morphine, Lit and Sin. You can also use something like Too Faced Candlelight Glow Shadow Insurance or Urban Decay Sin Primer Potion, both of which add a golden glow to the eyes. The goal is to use something that will brighten the eyes.

  1. You’re beautiful without any makeup!! I really want the TT blush and I agree on the TF mascara.

  2. Have been wanting to try that mascara and this is now the second time I’ve seen it recommended for a 5 minute face…must be a sign I need it!

  3. I totally forgot to buy more Supergoop from Sephora. I hope the code works twice because I love their SPF. And now I have to look into the Cover FX CC Cream. I love the Tarina Tarantino Cameo Coral blush – I use it constantly.

  4. Definitely will give that Cover FX cc cream a go…and the mascara but hate the price point on it 🙁 Looks great, as usual!

  5. I just started testing the NARS Tinted Foundation but I have only applied it with a Beauty Blender. Will have to see how well it blends into my skin with just my fingers. That would be a great time saver.
