Laura Geller Baked Vanilla Nudes – Initial Thoughts & Swatches

Towards the end of January I ordered the Laura Geller Baked Vanilla Nudes Box set from QVC.com. It just finally got here today, but that’s a rant for another day. So not pleased with QVC’s customer service. Anyway, I ordered this set because I liked the theme and how everything was coordinated.

This is the Baked Vanilla Nudes set. It comes in a cute tin, which is probably perfect for me to put cookies into.

Laura Geller has her baked collections created in Italy. Creamy liquids infused with multiple igments are poured onto terracotta tablets and baked for 24 hours. As the moisture bakes out, the batter solidifes into a lush, silky powder.

I’m not sure what I think of the foundation yet, but my initial impressions of all of these powders are that they are really silky smooth and very pigmented. Vanilla Toffee is one of those awesome eye shadow shades that looks like you’re wearing three eye shadows at once on your eye when you have it on, as it has touches of metallic vanilla, caramel and a sort of copper/bronze. The lipstick is a nice nude pink shade. I don’t think I like the mascara, it’s very wet in texture and hard to get a non-gloopy coat applied.

You can expect a review of these different items.

  1. I love this kit but the mascara is way too hard to get off. I got it on autodelivery but I’m not sure I want anymore of the mascara. Lol it’s still a great deal though.

    1. The Nyx makeup remover was able to get the mascara off ok. Also, I picked up the Sonia Kashuk makeup remover to try.

You may be able to sell any new mascara on ebay or swap it on spektra. I’m with you though, I don’t like her mascara formula. It’s too wet / goopy for my taste.

  2. Wow that foundation looks…strangely delicious.
But oh nooooo…it looks like the porcelain set is sold out 🙁

    1. Aww, check for it to be back in stock. Also, it should be available on the LG site in May. You also may be able to snag it from ebay.

  3. Hi~ I’m waiting for the same set. Everything looks so nice!! I was hoping her new mascara would be great…none of her past mascaras have worked for me. Oh well, it’s still a great value. The porcelain color is what sold me. I’m super fair too 🙂

  4. These are totally not my style, but I’ve gotta say, I’d be tempted just because they look like they’d SMELL really good. I used to work as a pastry chef and they look like they’d smell like straight-up vanilla bean and vanilla pastry cream. Yum.

  5. I’m so excited! I’ve got this coming soon! The same foundation shade. I love their baked blushes and shadows but have never tried the foundation because they’ve always been too dark! this seems like a great match for your skintone. btw, I’ve been shopping with qvc for years and they typically have great CS so I hope this didn’t put you off too much. Their return policy is so awesome, they even refund your original shipping and handling. They even refund you on food if you dislike it. (you don’t even have to send it back)

    1. Yay! I’m glad you have it coming! This collection just spoke to me as something really nice that I didn’t have in my makeup collection, and I’m really pleased with it.

  6. The “foundation” looks like it would make a great highlight or topping color (something to put over a blush to pull back the intensity a bit) The whole set looks adorable, but I can see myself not liking the eyeshadow, lipstick, mascara and brush (and at that point it’s not much of a set any more, lol)

    1. The foundation works pretty well with my skintone, since I’m so pale 🙂

      I don’t like the mascara.

The eye shadow was surprisingly nice.

      1. I thought I was pretty pale, but then the last time I bought foundation I needed the NEXT to lightest shade. I was like HA! Call me Casper again co-workers. I am now like Casper’s totally tan cousin.

        1. Hehe! Yeah I’m paler than MAC NW15/NC15. If you can tell in the picture above, I swatched the foundation on the left side of my hand. It works pretty well with my skintone.

I’ve learned some tricks to make slightly darker foundations work for me, but most department store foundations are definitely too dark.

I wear Inquisitive Siamese in Meow and have been known to have to mix it with Snow Lynx when I got paler over winter.

  7. I was going to say ‘Can’t wait to see a look with these’, but I see you’ve posted one (pretty, as always!).
Quick question for you, how do you store those double-ended brushes? I have one and it keeps getting squished! Or do you not use them and send them packing? Thanks!

    1. I’ll probably store it by the sponge end. I tend to hate double ended brushes because one end inevitably gets mussed.
