Jolen - A Great Cruelty Free Way to Bleach Facial Hair

Today I wanted to talk to you about Jolen, a great cruelty free way to bleach facial hair. I don’t have facial hair that needs bleaching (and very little vellus hair), but I’ve been asked in the past if there were any cruelty free products that I could recommend for bleaching unwanted facial hair. Now I’m happy to say that there is a product that I can recommend!

Jolen – A Great Cruelty Free Way to Bleach Facial Hair

Jolen is a creme bleach that lightens unwanted facial hair and makes it virtually invisible. It’s recommended for use on the lip, cheeks, chin, and other body areas. However, it’s not recommended for the bikini zone.

It can also be used to lighten the eyebrows. I have not yet been brave enough to try bleaching my eyebrows (I know I know, I bleach the rest of my hair with no issue, but balk at getting bleach near my eyes), though I’ve thought about it many times!

After researching Jolen, I’ve found that it comes in the original formula as well as a formula for sensitive skin that has soothing aloe vera in it. Both formulas are supposed to be gentle to the skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth.

Conair® 3X/1X Illuminated LED Mirror

To use, try a lighted mirror like the Conair® 3X/1X Illuminated LED Mirror (the LED really helps when you’re bleaching your face, tweezing your eyebrows or applying makeup) to use when applying Jolen bleach. Make sure you cleanse the area that you’re going to bleach first. Place one quarter teaspoon Accelerator powder into the mixing cup. Add one half teaspoon creme bleach into the cup. Blend the two together well. You can use the spatula that came with the bleach or another mixing implement you have. I actually have a tiny blender that I use for mixing up hair color. Use the spatula to apply the mixture to the hair you want bleached. Set a timer on your cell phone for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes remove the bleach with the spatula or a damp wash cloth. If you’re not satisfied with the results, try it again for another 5 to 10 minutes. Then wash the area gently with cool water. The results should last for up to 4 weeks.

Best Cruelty Free Cream Bleach

If you’re going to be daring and try your eyebrows, I would recommend applying it with a cotton swab, very carefully. Make sure you don’t pluck your brows a day before or after bleaching. It can irritate the skin. I would recommend putting the bleach on your brows for only 2 to 5 minutes, just to be careful. When you go to wash the bleach off, use a wash cloth so that you can remove the bleach without getting it into your eyes.

Don’t ever use bleach that is meant for the hair on your head near your eyes. You don’t want to put your eyes at risk!

Now, you CAN use Jolen Creme Bleach to streak your hair if you decide you want to add a few lighter streaks it, or to get the little baby hairs around your edges.
