My Tips for Application

  1. Start by exfoliating your lips. I use the Paula’s Choice Lip Exfoliant.
  2. Moisturize your lips after you exfoliate. I’m currently using the Darling Girl Luscious Lip Balm.
  3. Blot off any excess moisture.
  4. Apply OCC Makeup Colour Pencils or Colour Pop Lip Pencils, whatever you like to line your lips.
  5. Swipe in a gentle motion across your bottom lip, from side to side. Then move from the center of your upper lip to the outer corner on one side. Repeat for the other side.

The packaging for the lipsticks is really great. I love the rose gold print on the side and the hot pink top. You can clearly see the color of the product inside. The doe foot applicator really does a nice job of hugging the lip for application.

The pigmentation of the products is really nice. You really only need one layer of product to get an even application.

Celebrity Skin is hands down my favorite shade of the three I picked up. Don’t get me wrong, I love Redrum too and I think it looks really flattering on me. I also really like Unicorn Blood, though I found it the most finicky of the three to apply.

For me, it’s easiest to apply these if you use a lip pencil first. For Celebrity Skin I like Colour Pop BFF 1. For Redrum and Unicorn Blood, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Colour Pencil in NSFW works great.

I got about 6 hours of wear with these guys. You can drink water or kiss the back of your hand with no issue. I love the formula enough that I want to buy Prom Night and I’m glad I bought the shades that I did (even Unicorn Blood).

Since so many of you have asked, for me, the most comfortable matte liquid lipstick formula is Fyrinnae. After that, Jeffree Star and LASplash. Then Pretty Zombie. Then Kat Von D. I feel like Jeffree Star and LASplash are about the same comfort level and they both perform beautifully.

What do you think of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks? I know I’m eagerly awaiting new shades!

  1. I need celebrity Skin… like it’s absolutely perfect.
Unicorn Blood was like made for you though~ oh my gosh you look beautiful (as always, but hey 🙂 )

  2. Hi. Would you please tell me what shadow is on the inner corners of your eyes & what hi-liter you used here? Thanks!

  3. On his site he recommends applying to bare lips but liner makes it so much easier for me! Glad it works well both ways!

  4. I absolutely adore the photo of you wearing Celebrity Skin! It’s so flattering, I think it’s my all time favorite nude that you’ve worn! XO

    1. I don’t notice a scent, but, unless it’s a strong scent or a scent I don’t like, I’m not likely to notice. I just put on Celebrity Skin again and I didn’t notice a scent.

    1. Jeffree Star says that Celebrity Skin will work on all skintones. I was highly skeptical because nudes usually look like crap on me. This one looks great, so I’d say there’s a high chance it will look great on medium skin too.
