Colour Pop Review

Colour Pop Review, Swatches, Video

Today I’m happy to bring you my Colour Pop review. Colour Pop is a new cruelty free company based in California. The formula feels wet to me, but it’s a sort of pressed pigment.

Colour Pop Ibiza
Ibiza
Colour Pop Dare
Dare

All colors swatched on primer, except 3, I Heart This and Girly.

Colour Pop On the Rocks Swatch
On the Rocks
Vibrant true bronze with gold and violet glitter.

To me this looks like an aged bronze with hints of gold. The violet is easier to see in this swatch than it is when the color is worn.

Colour Pop Amaze Swatch

Amaze
Metallic rose gold with multi-colored multi-dimensional glitter.

This is a great rose gold shade.

Colour Pop Mermaid's Kiss Swatch

Mermaid’s Kiss
This bright neon yellow green with pearlized finish totally reminds us of that night we were trippin’ on the beach making out with mermaids…wait…what?

I love this bright yellow-toned green.

Colour Pop Ibiza Swatch

Ibiza
Bright turquoise with a silver and gold duo chrome finish.

This is a bright turquoise with silver glitter.

Colour Pop Rex Swatch

Rex
Black drenched with multiple shades of blue glitter

This has a black base with turquoise and royal blue shimmer.

Colour Pop Dare Swatch

Dare
Shockingly
bright neon purple with hot pink and violet glitter.

I love this purple! It’s a bright pink-toned purple with lots of shimmer.

Colour Pop 3 Swatch
3

Cool toned starlit bronze with a flash of silvery and multi-coloured glitter

This shade reads more as a brown than a bronze to me.

Colour Pop I Heart This Swatch

I Heart This
Cool toned silvery taupe with multi-coloured glitter

This color has such high shine. It really brightens the eyes when worn on the lid.

Colour Pop Girly Swatch

Girly
Creamy vanilla with a flash of pink and gold duo chrome finish

I love this color, it reminds me of an old L’Oreal Hip Pigment that I owned. The pink and gold iridescence is very strong.

Colour Pop 3, Girly, I Heart This Swatches
3, Girly, I Heart This (these 3 shades were applied on bare skin)

Dare is on the center of my lid, Girly was used to highlight. See the tutorial.

The packaging for these shadows is white with a twist top. You’re supposed to cap these tightly when they’re not in use. Like a creme shadow, I would recommend storing these upside down.

Each Colour Pop eyeshadow is $5 and .07 oz of product. A typical Urban Decay eyeshadow is $18 and .05 oz of product, so the Colour Pop eyeshadows are a great deal for the price.

Colour Pop recommends applying with a finger tip and tapping it onto the skin. You can also use a synthetic flat brush. If you use a normal blending brush the color will diffuse softly. The best way, in my experience, is to build the color up with your finger tip. When I applied it with a brush, I had a little bit of fallout. When applied with my finger tips, I had no fallout.
These colors are super sparkly and have great color payoff. The formula is also extremely long wearing! It doesn’t stain, but man, does it not want to come off.

Overall, I really like this formula, despite having to apply it with my finger tip.

What do you think of Colour Pop? Do you like formulas like this?

Pros

  • Cruelty free
  • Great value for the price
  • Great, long-wearing formula
  • Large shade range

Cons

  • Some fallout if you use a brush
  • No matte shades

  1. I am obsessed with this brand! Love the shadows, and the sweet details of the packaging and shipping materials. I ordered a box of six, and just may get six more! (My initial six were: Sugar, Dare, Animal, Slave2Pink, Chipper, and Ibiza. Dare and S2P especially reminded me of you! All are stunning!)

  2. I love the colours! I think Mermaid’s Kiss, Ibiza, and Dare would go well together for a summer look.

  3. I am in love with I Heart This… seriously I can’t stop using it. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I just wish that they sent everyone’s order in a box… I didn’t get a pretty box for my 6 shadows… but heart it was just for those reviewing their products. :/

  4. You have a great selection of shades, I want to place an order now that they have such an amazing deal going on.

  5. What a fantastic roundup of summery shades! I’m especially digging that celery green and purple.

  6. I was intrigued until I couldn’t locate any ingredient info on their site. That alone generally stops me from buying from companies. But the colors are beautiful!

      1. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! It is slightly off-putting that they don’t have that info on their site anywhere that I could find, so that people who have sensitivities could have that information readily available. Also, it appears that they have just listed the ingredients for *all* colors in one listing, instead of separating them out by color or adding in a “may contain” section for the ingredients that vary by color. I think their use of square brackets is supposed to indicate that, but it’s not explicit.

I really really love the look of their products, but I think I’m going to abstain for now because they don’t seem completely careful or thorough on their end of things. But thank you again for the ingredients listing and your swatches are beautiful!

        1. No problem! I think they included ingredients with the 6 shadows they sent me, but I spaced on searching for the ingredients on their website. I emailed them and they replied promptly.

  7. You really need a warning on your blog that pretty much everything you review makes it impossible to resist. Also, the price is full of awesome.

  8. Great swatches! I’ve been following Colour Pop on IG for a while and they’re high on my wish list. I really want to pick up some of their eyeshadows when I have more fundage.

  9. The shades are beautiful! Phyrra, does storing them and cream shadows upside down prevent cracking or do you recommend that for another reason?

      1. That makes sense. I do find that some of my cream shadows dry out or crack. I’ll try the upside down trick!

  10. I’m loving those taupes and golds. And the price is right! I’m going to their site right now to order some! Thanks for the review! 😀

    1. I ordered I Heart This and Amaze. I’m loving natural skin-toned shiny shades for my eyes lately and I love the shine of these. I’m anxious to get them!
