Best Blushes and Highlighters of 2014

Best Blushes and Highlighters of 2014

Happy New Year! For this special edition of Makeup Wars I’m bringing you my picks for the best blushes and highlighters of 2014.

Best Blushes and Highlighters of 2014

1. Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip & Cheek Creamy Oil in Everlasting Honey
I purchased this shade and fell in love so I had to have the rest. Everlasting Honey is a rosy nude pink. See my review.

2. Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cheek Blush in Neapolitan Lane
This muted pink beige  is a great go-to neutral blush that goes with everything.

3. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush in Mirage
It’s a beautiful pale peachy-pink. I’ve purchased 2 of them. I sincerely hope it become a part of the permanent lineup.

4. Makeup Geek Secret Admirer
This is a gorgeous orchid pinky-purple matte. See my review.

5. NARS Final Cut Blush in New Attitude
It’s a cherry blossom pink with blue undertones and I think it’s beautiful. See my review.

6.  NARS Blush in Unlawful
This is a beautiful pinky peach with brown undertones and silver sparkles. See my review.

So I love all 6 of these blushes but if I was pushed to pick just one, I’d pick Neapolitan Lane. Thankfully I don’t have to, because I find them all flattering. I lean towards wearing Everlasting Honey, Neapolitan Lane or Mirage when I don’t know what blush to wear. I find Neapolitan Lane that perfect sort of go-to blush that goes with everything.

Best Blushes and Highlighters of 2014

1. Too Faced Candlelight Glow Duo
This highlighter has been my go-to for probably 5 years. I love it and think it’s amazing. I wear it all the time. It’s a golden pink highighter.

2. Notoriously Morbid Divination Blush in Osteomancy
This is a new product that I recently picked up and I’m so glad I did. It’s a silvery blue iridescent highlighter.

I definitely think Too Faced’s Candlelight Glow Duo highlighter has withstood the test of time with me since I use it all the time. Osteomancy is a new favorite that I can see myself wearing all the time too.

What do you think of my picks for the best blushes and highlighters of 2014? What are your picks?

  1. I adore my Too Faced Candlelight Glow and Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil! I bought the TF Candlelight Glow based on your use and picture and I am so happy with my purchase. Thanks Phyrra!

  2. Argh! I also picked up Josie Maran’s Everlasting Honey and really enjoy, The ONE blush you’d pick up, Tarina Tarantino Neopolitan Lane???!!!! Sold! I just ordered from Dermstore and used their 20% off site wide coupon and free shipping. This will be my last purchase of 2015 if I can help it!

  3. Oh, I didn’t see the NARS Final Cut Single in NEW Attitude at Nordstrom or on the NARS site when I just checked…do you think it’s no longer avail or maybe it’s somewhere else? I’ll try some of the other high end dept. store sites that sell NARS. There is a Final Cut shade in my Virtual Domination Palette, but I’ll have to see if it’s the same shade! Have you gotten the Virtual Domination? Wasn’t sure, because I though maybe you have some of those shades…if not I definitely recommend it, it’s amazing! I also can’t wait for you to review some of the NEW Contour palettes coming out, I heard Too Faced is coming out with one!!!! I’m going to do a couple for my blog(which I want to show you before I publish it)

      1. oh awesome! All of that sounds great! I LOVE the Too Faced Spring Collection so I can’t wait to see your review and photos! I’ve been eyeing the Anastasia Contour as well as the Kat Von D! I’ll have to read your review to see which to get! Right now I’m trying out contouring with the Virtual Domination Palette. I tried the Melted Lipsticks for the first time, my mom got me the Melted Nude for Christmas, it’s so pretty! I saw the new shades on the Too Faced site, they are gorgeous!

      2. Oh by the way, I think I probably told you but the Etude is the BEST makeup purchase I’ve made, EVER, hands down! Thank you SO much again for suggesting it! The shades are gorgeous on their own and they work great together and they last all day with UD Shadow Potion, I used the Warm/Reddish Shade as a Blush and I also used the palette for brows, perfect match. Going to play with the contouring!

  4. Really LOVE all the picks! They are super flattering and very wearable! I love to experiment with blush but never want to look like a clown lol! I have the Final Cut Blush(I think it’s the same shade but not sure I have to look) which comes with the NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette and love it! That palette would be my #1 pick for blush for 2014! I remember now why NARS blush is so amazing! I really want to try the Tarina Tarantino and the Makeup Geek! Is the Tarte LE blush still avail>?

  5. Interesting to hear about Candlelight glow…I never hear anyone talking about it! I’ll have to check it out.

  6. Am I going crazy or are there only five swatches in the blush swatch picture? I only see five so I was wondering which is listed but not pictured. Let me know if I’m just missing it somehow!!

  7. I love how the Candlelight Duo looks on you. I bought the Josie Maran Honey because of you, but I found it really oily. I want it to work for me, though, it’s so pretty!

      1. Yeah, that was my concern about trying the Josie Maran Honey! i have combo skin, my left cheek is the oily one! Thanks for the tip! I will try it with the NARS Light Reflecting Loose Powder which I plan on getting soon!

  8. I really need to get the Too Faced highlighter soon. It’s so beautiful and I always see great reviews! I fell in love with Tarte blushes this year; my favorite is Tipsy.

      1. they are so amazing! I remember now how amazing they are, as I got the Virtual Domination Palette for Christmas! It’s a great palette because you get multiple shades, the highlighting blush and the Laguna Bronzer(each blush is normally $30!) And they work together beautifully. You only need a little bit and they are foolproof!

  9. I want that Makeup Geek blush. It’s funny that you have the only Tarina Tarantino blush I don’t own!

    1. I think I have all the Tarina Tarantino blushes. I have the quad, I have this single, and then I have the 2 cream blushes.

      1. I absolutely adore the cream blushes. I don’t use the sparkly side but I love the cream side.

  10. Beautiful picks. I totally agree with you about Mirage. I tried to get another one, but it sold out too fast. I love Candlelight, though I don’t have the duo. It’s going on my list now. Osteomancy is on my list for my next Notoriously Morbid order.

  11. Love the Josie Maran Lip & Cheek creams esp. Everlasting Honey. My go-to highlighter is Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls in Translucent but I have been meaning to try Too Faced Candlelight; it looks gorgeous.

      1. @phyrra:disqus Also, the Miss Liberty Highlighter from NARS I think you’d love too, just tried it because it’s in the Virtual Domination Palette!

  12. I love your selection! Candlelight Glow is SOOOOO gorgeous, and it’s perfect for the winter! NARS makes lovely blushes– Gaiety is one of my favorites!
