Bdellium Purple Bambu Sultry Eyes 5pc. Brush Set Review

Not too long before my surgery I had the opportunity to try out the Bdellium Purple Bambu Sultry Eyes 5pc. Brush Set. Bdellium (pronounced del-ee-uhm, the B is silent), creates cruelty free and vegan brushes. Bdellium brushes are designed by makeup brush experts in Cerritos, California and handmade by skilled artisans. The different lines have different features, with the green bambu, yellow bambu, pink bambu and purple bambu lines all featuring eco-friendly, sustainable bamboo handles and vegan synthetic bristles with an anodized aluminum ferrule.

Bdellium Purple Bambu Sultry Eyes 5pc. Brush Set Review

Includes

  • #783PU Small Tapered Blending
  • #777PU Shadow
  • #762PU Small Angle
  • #716PU Smoky Eyeliner
  • #708PU Bent Eyeliner

The brush set is $30 and breaks down to $6 a brush, which is very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the brushes.

This is perfect for the upper lash line. It’s easy to glide along the upper lash line and wing out your liner with this brush. It’s got enough give to it without being flimsy, and it’s not too stiff.

Purple #777PU Shadow

This is a multi-purpose eyeshadow brush that Bdellium says is meant for the lid, crease, and highlight. I used it on the lid and to highlight under the brow. It’s larger than I prefer for my lid but it’s nice for doing a wash of color for a base shade. This is actually perfect for applying a base shade, and then following it up with the lighter shade of a smoky eye.

This brush is great for building color in the crease and blending. I really like the shape, density and give for blending. You would use this brush to blend out colors in the crease.

Purple #762PU Small Angle

Purple #762PU Small Angle
I have a lack of small angled brushes like this. I love this one because it works well with creams as well as powders. It’s great with the NARS Eye Paints or with eyeshadows like Makeup Geek Corrupt. It’s small and has the perfect amount of give to apply color at your lash line.

I LOVE this brush! You may have seen me use NARS Eye Paint in Black Valley to line my upper lash line into a rough cat eye shape. Then I like to go back with a black eyeshadow like Makeup Geek Corrupt and a brush like this on top of the gel eyeliner to smoke it out. Super quick and easy smoky cat eye. You can also use this brush to apply the deeper color of a smoky eye.

I really love that these brushes are purple! The bristles are soft and they’re easy to clean. The only thing I dislike is that they are white and purple instead of black and purple. I find that white stains easily as my Cinema Secrets brush cleanser tends to leave a blue tint on white brushes.

I’ve actually purchased bdellium green bambu series brushes in the past from Amazon including the 767 Round Dome Blender, 714 Flat Eye Definer, 776 Blending Brush and 785 Tapered Blending. Those brushes have held up well over the past 3 years, so I feel confident saying that the purple bambu series should hold up nicely. I experienced no shedding when cleaning the purple bambu brushes.

If you’re looking for my brush holder, you can find it here.

Overall, if you’re looking for a set of eye brushes to help you perfect your smoky eye, this set is a good one to check out.

  1. I love the overall look of these with the holder and all. I’ll have to check the brushes out!

  2. Wow great deal! Such a lovely color, too. I have some of the green face brushes, and they are so soft and nice. Who can’t use more eye brushes?

  3. What a good deal for less than $30! I just bought a Smashbox fan brush on sale for $12. If this had a fan brush in the mix, I’d cancel the other order. And these are so pretty too

  4. These look lovely! My brushes are a hodge podge too, mostly MAC and Crown Brush. Usually I feel like there’s always a few brushes in a set I won’t really use but I’m really liking every one in this set! And they’re purple!

    1. I think they’re a great line too. I feel like my brushes are sort of hodge podge because I like specific brush shapes and some lines don’t offer those shapes.

  5. I like these! My budget is tight and this is a great value. I’m glad they perform well.

  6. These are so pretty! Not too expensive either- another one to add to the wish list.

  7. When I first saw you using them in one of your tutorials I was like “Gurl I must have them, they’re purple!!” so I waited for Bdellium Tools to have a sale like they did on St Patrick’s Day and got them with 30% off which means for 21$!! Their international shipping takes a while, the brushes will take like a month to get to me but I can’t wait to use them!

  8. I don’t have a makeup brush set, just singles that came with a palette or subscription box. I really like the color of these though. Purple is my favorite color, especially light purple, but if I’m going to get a set I think I might go for something a little higher end.

    1. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to get quality brushes. This is a good eye set. If you’re looking for a complete set of brushes I recommend the Makeup Geek. My high end brushes are the Wayne Goss. I use Makeup Geek and Wayne Goss brushes in my daily routine (when I can wear makeup, right now I can’t wear makeup).

  9. Love the color and it definitely seems like a very reasonable price. I’m still shopping around for brushes.

    1. Yes, they’re definitely reasonably priced! I really like that this is a themed brush set, takes the guess work out of what to use for people.

      1. I like that about them too! Although I love playing with makeup, I’m definitely not an expert and elaborate eye looks can still stump me so it’s nice to have tools that can make the process easier. And they’re purple!
