Here are the swatches. These are on bare skin with no primer. I would never wear them this way as I have oily lids that require primer.

Check out my Anastasia Covet Waterproof Eyeliner review here for swatches and details on how the eyeliners work for me.

Anastasia Cover Noir Eyeliner

I really feel like the eyeliner amount is stingy for the price, as you only get .01 oz of eyeliner for $19. By comparison, Urban Decay eyeliners are $19 and they give you .04 oz of product, which is a much better deal to me. However, the eyeliner does work well for oily eyes as it’s on the dry side. In other words, this liner doesn’t glide along the skin, you may experience skipping or tugging.

Anastasia Lavish Tweezers Review

The tweezers are very nice. I think they’re the most expensive pair of tweezers that I’ve ever used.

Anastasia Perfect Brow Pencil

I wasn’t fond of the brow pencil, which surprises me because I really love the Anastasia Tinted Brow Gels. See my tinted brow gel review. I felt like the brow pencil skipped and I didn’t like the color.

Anastasia Lavish Duo Brush

I find it inaccurate that the website calls the brush a ‘professional grade lining and blending brush’. Like I said in the video, I’m really not impressed with the brush in the slightest. I really feel like this brush is not up to the normal caliber of product that I expect from Anastasia Beverly Hills. You can see my Wayne Goss brush set review for amazing brushes.

I really love the Look book that came with the palette and I easily feel that it adds a lot of value to the set.

Value
For reference, a typical MAC refill pan is .05 oz for $12. The typical Anastasia Illumin8 eyeshadow duos (discontinued) are .04 each (so .08 per duo) and cost $23. To equal .31 oz, it would be about 4 of the Anastasia duos, which would cost about $92. Add the eyeshadow, tweezers, mini brow pencil, and eyeliner together and you get $147.08. I’m not sure the value assigned to the brush and the look book, but they would make up the remaining $64.92. For the purpose of this review I’ve assigned the duo headed brush a value of $44.92 and the book a value of $20. Anyway, I would love to know how ABH calculates the value of the palette. Just going off of the value of the eyeshadow, the look book and tweezers, I say this set is worth the price if you like those items.

I would have liked to have seen a charcoal matte instead of the Truffle, since Truffle and Sienna can be used interchangeably to me. With Rum Cake (which I do like), Truffle, and Sienna, I felt like this was a very brown heavy palette. I do really like the Antique shade. Pink Sapphire and Black Diamond are a lot of fun too. Cream is perfect for a matte highlighter or for blending out colors. Ballet is a beautiful subtle pink highlight shade.

Overall, I like the eyeshadows, eyeliner, tweezers and look book in this set. I’m really not impressed with the brush or the brow pencil.

If you’re looking for a neutral eyeshadow set that has a long wearing eyeliner and brow accessories, I would recommend this. If you want something with more fun pops of color, I’d say look elsewhere. There are a lot of great colorful palettes out there right now that mix in some workhorse neutrals.

What do you think of the Anastasia Lavish Set? Is it a must have?

  1. That ones not for me!!! The Black shadow has got my interest up however; wondering if I could use that instead of eyeliner??? A lot of eyeliners and mascaras do burn my eyes and I just want to wash them off. Thank you, as usual you did a great job on this video. Jerri

    1. You could definitely use any eyeshadow as an eyeliner, either dry or wet. Wet it has more oomph. If you don’t want to do wet (which can be messy) use Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy 🙂

  2. It’s me again:) I also found that: Iron oxides contain nickel and
a large percentage of the population tested is allergic to nickel
(17.9%). So sensitivity to pigments can and
does occur, even to iron oxides. From your experience, are there eye products without iron oxides also? Thanks!

    1. Almost everything I can think of (since I own a ton of indie / mineral makeup) has iron oxides. You’re going to have to read labels carefully. And a big problem will be the ones that say ‘may contain’

  3. Hi, interesting post! Do you know anything about nickel in makeup products? I’ve heard that many products have nickel in their ingredients but the companies don’t mention it in the ingredients list. I was diagnosed with nickel allergy and don’t know what products are safe for me…right now I use Max Factor Wild Mega Volume Mascara, Revlon eye pencil and Urban Decay Sin… and my eyelids keep swelling. I had tried to wear different products being diagnosed, but my eyelid kept swelling. Don’t know what to use anymore, maybe you can help me. Thanks!
