In July I joined a website called Beauty Blogs Backstage. Each month bloggers get paired up and they interview each other, which I find fun. The interviews are posted on each other’s site as well as on Beauty Blogs Backstage.

I was paired up with the lovely Meredith, of Retrodivas Beauty for my debut. You can read her interview of me here.

1. What’s your favorite thing to write about for your blog?
At first it used to be new makeup collections, but I’m kind of turning into the hair girl. I’ve been obsessed with my hair for ages, and the blog has just given me a platform to share it with everyone.

2. What are your ‘can’t live without’ beauty products?
I have learned that there really isn’t a better thing to spend your hard earned dollars on than skin care. I’m fanatical about my cleansers (beta hydroxy acid for my breakout prone skin!) and my anti-aging lotions and potions now that I could be considered a woman of a certain age.

3. Do you like social media tools, such as Twitter, for blogging?
I just love Twitter for everything, from blogging to posting my random thoughts about absolutely nothing. I have met the most amazing people on Twitter, and have gotten opportunities that I never would have gotten otherwise, so it’s been a huge addition to my life.

4. What do you think are the most overrated or underrated makeup brands?
I think MAC is rapidly sliding towards the overrated side of the spectrum, and not because their products are sub par, but because of collection fatigue. I think they have some fantastic products, and they are masters at building their fan base, but sometimes I don’t understand the hype. I think some of the “old school” brands such as Estee Lauder are seriously underrated, and I hope they will reach out to a younger generation, because they have very high quality products. Of course, there are so many small makeup companies that just don’t get any mainstream attention at all, which is really unfortunate.

5. What are your favorite high-end, indie and drugstore makeup brands?
I have such a hard time choosing favorites, because each brand does at least one thing well. Dior still makes the most incredible lip gloss and mascaras. Urban Decay knocks me out with their shadow colors. Cle de Peau makes the best concealer ever. Chanel does lipstick better than anyone else with their new Rouge Coco collection. L’Oreal is a fabulous drugstore brand that could satisfy any color junkie with their HiP line.

6. Do you have any pets? If so, tell me about them.
I currently am owned by two cats, a brother and sister duo named Max and Chloe who are not quite a year old. I’ve always had both dogs and cats, so I’m campaigning fairly hard for a pug puppy, since I miss my previous pugs desperately.

7. What are three of your favorite movies and why?
Office Space, because I hate printers and love “oh” faces; Gone With the Wind, an epic tale done amazingly right; and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, because everyone should ask themselves at least once, “what would Ferris do?”
